Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller, dOCUMENTA (13), 2012
Multi-media journey of discovery in the Cultural Station: The work by Canadian artists Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller was created for dOCUMENTA (13) in 2012. Equipped with a portable media player, you can experience a walking tour through the old main station, accompanied by words and images. In around 30 minutes, the visitors find out a lot of interesting facts and background information about the station and are confronted with amusing stories, but also awe-inspiring subjects. The events that take place on the small screen were recorded in advance by the artists and show the very place in which the participants are standing. As the visitors follow the moving images and fancy that they are filming the scenario themselves, the film and what they are currently experiencing intermingle in a confusing and impressive show.
Tours on the first Sunday of every month
The City Museum offers the "Old Station Video Walk" on the first Sunday of every month in the form of public guided tours. Interested parties can borrow the portable media players on these days at 11:30 am by presenting their ID card and explore the old main station with them. The meeting point is the "public access channel centre" in the station concourse.
As the number of participants for each tour is restricted to 30 people, early registration is important. This is done in the City Museum. The registration deadline is 5:00 pm on the Friday before the Sunday tours. On request, it is also possible to book individual group tours.
